Introduction:
Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, enjoys great fame among tourists not only because the region features a consistently warm climate, but also thanks to its wonderful vistas and landscapes. Among the most dramatic of these attractions is the Stone Forest (Shilin), known since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.) as the 'First Wonder of the World.'

Best time to visit:
The annual average temperature of Kunming is 15°C (59°F); the hottest and coldest temperatures are 31.5°C (88.7°F) in summer and 6°C (42.8°F) in winter respectively. Kunming is suitable for travel throughout the year, and many ethnic festivals, such as the Flower Appreciating Festival (on March 3rd) and the Water Slashing Festival (from April 13th to April 15th) are held from March to April; what's more, you also have a chance to appreciate the flowers in full bloom.

Getting there:
Buses from Kunming, East bus station, ¥27 to Stone Forest, other buses may charge ¥90 for the same trip  if one of the tours working in front of the train station assist you to find your bus their ¥10 commission will be added to your fare.If returning by the same bus that got you there it is another ¥27, which will take you back to the eastern bus station.
