Introduction:
The Blyde River Canyon is a significant natural feature of South Africa, located in Mpumalanga, and forming the northern part of the Drakensberg escarpment. It is 25 kilometres (16 mi) in length and is, on average, around 750 metres (2,461 ft) deep.
Best time to visit:
Abseiling is best in winter, from June to the end of August, but the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve is spectacular throughout the year.
Get in:
It is situated along the Panorama Route and easily accessible from the west of the Kruger National Park and the towns of Sabie and Nelspruit.
