Portuguese the beach Itaguaçu is considered one of the most beautiful seascapes in Florianópolis. The Carijó called Itaguaçu the formation of a large rock in the water, almost to the beach. Itaguaçu, meant big round stone in the water. Or, head stone in the water. There are interesting granite formations beachfront Itaguaçu and amidst the sea of the South Bay, even with a legend that tells of witches who have been petrified, giving rise to the stones, one of which seems to have a hat. His whole waterfront was declared a landscape heritage of the city of Florianópolis.
